Relations between Russia and Chechnya have improved since the major conflicts. However, Russia does not want to loosen their group on Chechnya anymore for fear that other satellite states will want to separate from Russia as well. Despite this, Russia continues "rebirth" movements with Chechnya such as rebuilding their capitol and the city of Grozny. In April of 2009 Russia stated that the situation in Chechnya had improved so much that they agreed to stop their military fight against the rebels. Nonetheless, sporadic acts of violence still occur by the rebels which include a triple suicide bombing that happened in August 2010, killing six people. No official peace treaties have been declared.
